Arsenal have reportedly lodged a bid of £13.5m for Torino right-back Bruno Peres.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer, having been dealt an injury blow as Per Mertesacker was ruled out for the first half of the season.
According to reports in Italy, Arsenal have now made an official offer for the services of 26-year-old Peres, who predominantly operates on the right but can also play as a centre-back.
Peres joined the Serie A side for just £1.7m two years ago but Torino chairman Urbano Cairo is believed to be holding out for an offer closer to £16m.
Arsenal have also been credited with interest in Jonny Evans, Shkodran Mustafi and former captain Thomas Vermaelen in recent days.
