Arsenal, Everton to battle for James Rodriguez?

Arsenal and Everton could reportedly battle for the loan signing of Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez.

Arsenal and Everton are reportedly in the running to sign Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez on loan before the January transfer window closes for business.

The 28-year-old returned to the Bernabeu last summer following two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich and has made 11 appearances for Los Blancos during the 2019-20 campaign.

The Colombia international has not played in La Liga since the middle of October through injury, though, and his future in the Spanish capital continues to be called into question.

According to reports in Spain, Arsenal and Everton are both interested in signing the South American on loan before the end of the month.

Madrid president Florentino Perez has allegedly placed a £34m valuation on the attacker, although the La Liga giants are said to be open to a loan with the view to a permanent exit at the end of the season.

Now Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is believed to have been keen on signing Rodriguez last summer while he was in charge of Napoli.

The former Envigado youngster has only scored once for Zinedine Zidane's side this season.
