Arsenal chiefs 'appeal to Kroenke to increase budget'

Arsenal chiefs have reportedly pleaded with owner Stan Kroenke to increase the money made available to boss Unai Emery this summer.

The Spaniard has been given a limited budget to work with ahead of his second season in charge of the Gunners.

Emery is rumoured to have been handed just £45m by billionaire backer Kroenke, ruling out the possibility of seriously strengthening a side that finished fifth in the Premier League last season.

According to the Daily Mail, though, internal talks have been held about the possibility of increasing that figure so that Arsenal have a better chance of landing one of their targets.

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha and Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire have been linked in recent days, but both players are well out of the Gunners' current price range.
