Frank Arnesen advises Nicklas Bendtner to leave Arsenal and join a smaller club where he can put his career back on track.

Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen believes that his Danish compatriot Nicklas Bendtner needs to "take a step down" and join a smaller club.

The 25-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Juventus and will return to his parent club Arsenal in the summer.

"He must take a step down and choose a good club where he can rediscover the joy of playing and play a lot," Arnesen told the Politiken newspaper.

"He said no to me twice because he wanted to play in an even bigger club. He must make sure he is always in the best shape and so he should be more humble and think about how he can get the most out of his talent."

Bendtner has started just three games for Juventus all season.
