Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has said that he is still fighting to keep his place in the Gunners' first team.

The 19-year-old, who broke into the London club's starting line-up last season after a season-long loan with Bolton Wanderers, won the team's player of the season award with almost 50 per cent of the vote.

However, Wilshere insists that he is still trying to prove himself to his manager and team-mates.

"I don't really feel any more pressure now," he said at Arsenal's Members' Day. "I play in a good team so the players around me make it easier. There is a bit more responsibility though.

"At this stage last year I had not played a game for Arsenal. I was just trying to prove myself. I am still trying to prove myself now really. I am just trying to keep my place in the team."

Wilshere made 35 appearances for Arsenal during the 2010/11 season and scored one goal.
