Wenger rues "stupid" mistakes

Arsene Wenger has blamed two "stupid" mistakes for Arsenal's 2-1 defeat to Fulham yesterday.

Mistakes by Wojciech Szczesney and Sebastien Squillaci let in Steve Sidwell and Bobby Zamora goals for a dramatic injury-time win.

"There was too much at stake today and we needed absolutely everything to go for us and to be right," Wenger said.

"We are guilty because we still gave two stupid goals away and we didn't take our chances.

"It was a massive missed opportunity. We have consistent problems to face and we do it with heart. But it's a very difficult defeat to swallow as I feel it wasn't deserved."

Arsenal are fifth in the Premier League with 36 points from 20 games.
