Arsene Wenger dislikes 'shouting' at players as it causes "too much damage"

Arsene Wenger admits that he prefers not to shout at his Arsenal players because he believes that it can cause "too much damage".

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he tends to refrain from shouting at his players because it can cause "too much damage".

The Frenchman has opened up about how he motivates his team, and while he believes that criticism is not particularly helpful, the coach has admitted that he has previously gone "overboard".

"I don't like to shout at players after a game because you can do too much damage after the match. It is true that sometimes it is very tempting though," Wenger told Arsenal's official magazine.

"But sometimes I've gone overboard after games, so most of the time I really try to control myself because I go red in the face and think to myself, 'the damage is big, don't do more'."

Arsenal are currently seven points adrift of Premier League leaders Chelsea and are favourites to retain the FA Cup.
