Tottenham and Arsenal prepare to issue a joint statement regarding chants towards Emmanuel Adebayor ahead of Sunday's clash between the two sides.

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are preparing to issue a joint statement to fans regarding Emmanuel Adebayor ahead of this weekend's derby clash.

Adebayor will return to the Emirates for the first time on Sunday since he joined Spurs on loan from Manchester City, and both clubs are looking to avoid a repeat of the last fixture, where abusive chants were aimed at the Togolese striker.

Both clubs will urge their fans to conduct positive chanting towards their own team throughout the game, according to The Sun.

The North London derby has been blighted by fans' behaviour in the past, most notably when Sol Campbell suffered abuse following his move to Arsenal from Spurs.

Spurs are currently third in the Premier League while Arsenal sit ten points behind in fourth place.
