Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal, as speculation over Arsene Wenger's future persists.
A recent report claimed that the Frenchman was preparing to finalise the details on a new contract at the Emirates.
However, according to Goal.com, the Gunners have sounded out the Dutchman as an insurance policy, should Wenger leave this summer.
It is believed that Van Gaal would be seen as a short-term option for the Londoners, and the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach will be a free agent in the summer once he steps down from his post after the World Cup.
The Oranje boss is favourite to take over from David Moyes, following the Scot's sacking at Manchester United earlier this week.
