Wales skipper Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out of Wednesday's match with Costa Rica with an ankle injury.
The Arsenal midfielder, 21, was due to skipper his side in the Gary Speed Memorial International in Cardiff, but will sit the tie out.
Ramsey suffered the knock in Arsenal's 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Sunderland last weekend, and also missed their 5-2 win over Tottenham on Sunday.
Ramsey has 20 international caps to his name.
