Perfect 10 for Arsenal and Emery

Comeback win over Leicester seals 10th straight win for Unai Emery and his Gunners.

Unai Emery’s Arsenal made it a perfect 10 as they took their winning streak to double-figures with victory over Leicester on Monday night.

Having lost his opening two games in charge of the Gunners, Emery has won every game since as they remain close to the top of the Premier League table as a result.

Here, Press Association Sport looks back at the current run, with Sporting Lisbon the next side looking to end Arsenal’s winning ways.

3-1 – West Ham (h), August 25, Premier League

After defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea, Emery picked up his first competitive win since replacing Arsene Wenger at the expense of the Hammers. Nacho Monreal, an Issa Diop own goal and a late Danny Welbeck effort saw Arsenal come from behind to win the London derby.

3-2 – Cardiff (a), September 2, Premier League

Wenger had overseen just three away league wins in his final campaign at the helm but Emery soon got off the mark with a thrilling victory in south Wales.
Shkodran Mustafi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had both given the visitors the lead only for Cardiff to level twice before Alexandre Lacazette lashed in a winner.

2-1 – Newcastle (a), September 15, Premier League

Another away trip and another three points for Emery and his men as they left Newcastle with a third win. Granit Xhaka’s free-kick put Arsenal on top before Mesut Ozil – making his first-ever Arsenal appearance at St James’ Park -secured the win despite Ciaran Clark’s late consolation.

4-2 – Vorskla Poltava (h), September 20, Europa League

A master of Europa League football having won the competition three years in a row while in charge of Sevilla, Emery opened his European account with Arsenal with another victory. An Aubameyang brace and goals for Danny Welbeck and Ozil put the game beyond Vorskla, even if the Ukrainian outfit struck twice in the closing stages to reduce the arrears.

2-0 – Everton (h), September 23, Premier League

Emery could finally toast a clean sheet as well as a win when the Toffees were put to the sword at the Emirates Stadium. Lacazette put the hosts ahead and the points were secured when Aubameyang scored three minutes later – although his close-range finish should have been ruled out for offside.

3-1 – Brentford (h), September 26, Carabao Cup

Another competition and another victory with high-flying Championship opponents Brentford despatched in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Beaten finalists last season, it did not take Arsenal long to take control of the tie as Welbeck scored twice before Lacazette’s last-minute goal secured progress following Alan Judge’s free-kick for the Bees.

2-0 – Watford (h), September 29, Premier League

Watford spurned plenty of chances to take the lead in north London but eventually became the seventh victims of Arsenal’s run. Substitute Isaac Success hit the post for the Hornets before an unfortunate Craig Cathcart own goal and an Ozil effort inside the last seven minutes gave Emery another three points.

3-0 – Qarabag (a), October 4, Europa League

A 5,000-mile round trip offered a potential snag for Arsenal but Emery took a strong squad to Baku and was rewarded with another comfortable European night. Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Emile Smith Rowe and Matteo Guendouzi all scored their first goals for the club to keep the Gunners top of Group E.

5-1 – Fulham (a), October 7, Premier League

The most complete performance of the Emery era saw Arsenal blow Fulham away at Craven Cottage. Substitute Aaron Ramsey scored the pick of the goals, finishing a superb move with a flicked finish as Lacazette and substitute Aubameyang both helped themselves to two goals apiece.

3-1 – Leicester (h), October 22, Premier League

After a slow start saw them fall behind to a Hector Bellerin own goal, Arsenal were brought back into the game by captain-for-the-night Ozil. The forward equalised on the stroke of half-time and was then heavily involved in two goals from substitute Aubameyang as Emery’s men reached their milestone.
