Ray Parlour surprised by Alexis Sanchez impact at Arsenal

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour admits that he has been surprised by the form that Alexis Sanchez has shown since joining the club.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has admitted that he has been surprised by the form that Alexis Sanchez has shown since joining the club.

The Chile international has scored 10 goals in 16 appearances for the Gunners this season following his summer move from Barcelona, including two in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium.

"What an amazing player. I didn't realise he'd be this good," Parlour told Sky Sports News.

"I watched him in the World Cup for Chile and you saw the potential. You're always hoping for new signings coming into the Premier League, who are not used to the Premier League, that they can hit the ground running - like Diego Costa's done at Chelsea.

"We knew Cesc Fabregas could do it because he's done it before, but certainly Sanchez, he's come in and it really suits him, the Premier League - he's quick, he's hustle-bustle, he's been kicked a few times, he's got straight back up, he's chasing balls down."

Arsenal return to action on Tuesday evening when they host Anderlecht in the Champions League.
