Gary Neville hits out at Arsenal's hiring process following Arteta, Emery twist

Neville criticises Arsenal's hiring process

Gary Neville has described Arsenal's process of finding Arsene Wenger's successor as a "mess".

The club's former midfielder Mikel Arteta was thought to be closing in on the position, which would be his first as a manager following two years as Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City.

However, it has been widely reported that ex-Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery has been selected by the Arsenal board to mark a new era for the club.

The Spaniard was sacked earlier this month after a disappointing Champions League campaign, but he still managed to guide the French outfit to the Ligue 1 title.

Former Manchester United captain Neville has criticised Arsenal's conduct during the hiring process, but insists that Emery is a good choice for the North London outfit.

On Twitter, the Sky Sports pundit wrote: "They've bounced all over the place on it ! However he's a good appointment for Arsenal .. The process a mess.."

Emery won five trophies during his two years at PSG.
