Per Mertesacker confident of Arsenal recovery

Per Mertesacker backs Arsenal to recover quickly from their 1-0 defeat to Swansea at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has backed the team to recover quickly from their defeat at home to Swansea City.

The Gunners suffered a blow in their bid to finish as Premier League runners-up last night with a 1-0 loss at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger's side remain three points behind second-placed Manchester City, though they have a game in hand on the former champions.

"It's a disappointing night for us but we'll keep going because we believe in ourselves and that's what made us strong in the last couple of weeks," Mertesacker told the club's official website. "That was a big punishment for us here but we are still in a good mood and I'm convinced that we'll bounce back very quickly."

Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Sunday when they will face Manchester United at Old Trafford.
