Howard Webb escapes FA demotion

Howard Webb will take charge of Cardiff City's clash with Hull City this weekend.

Howard Webb will face no censure from the Football Association for his error-strewn performance in Arsenal's victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The Gunners beat the Reds 2-1 at the Emirates in a game that saw Webb fail to award the visitors what captain Steven Gerrard called a "stonewall penalty".

Webb gave Liverpool a spot-kick when Lukas Podolski clipped Luis Suarez, but ignored strong shouts for a second penalty when the Uruguayan went down under a clumsy challenge from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Gerrard was also fortunate not to receive a second yellow card for a foul on Oxlade-Chamberlain, but Webb has been handed a Premier League assignment this weekend.

The former policeman will take charge of Cardiff City's clash with Hull City on Saturday.
