Mikel Arteta: Arsene Wenger deserves fans' respect

Mikel Arteta has claimed that Arsene Wenger does not deserve the criticism he has received from the Arsenal fans.

The fans voiced their anger towards Wenger during the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United after he had brought Andrey Arshavin on in place of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Despite the defeat, Arteta believes that the fans should be supporting the Frenchman as he has earned their respect.

Arteta said: "When we've had bad results the fans get upset with the manager but that's normal in football.

"Wenger has done so much for the club that he deserves the confidence of the fans."

Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League.
