Mikel Arteta pleased with "important" win

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta believes that his side have a "massive chance" to clinch fourth place following their 3-0 win over Newcastle this evening.

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has talked up his side's chances of claiming fourth spot in the Premier League following an "important" win over Newcastle United this evening.

Goals from Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud handed the Gunners a routine 3-0 win over the out-of-form Magpies, sending them four points clear of Everton in the race for the final Champions League place.

Former Toffee Arteta believes that Koscielny's opening goal was a pivotal moment in the match and also talked up the importance of fit-again record signing Ozil.

"It was a good win. It was important for us to get this result and the goals for our goal difference was important too. The first goal was really important. We needed to break them down and it opened the game up," Arteta told Sky Sports News.

"Mesut Ozil is very important for the team and we have missed him while he has been injured. We have a massive chance to secure fourth and we will try to take it."

Tonight's result means that Arsenal would secure fourth place in the league with a win over West Bromwich Albion next Sunday.
