Arsenal vs. Wolves postponed due to COVID-19

Arsenal's Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday has been postponed due to COVID-19.

Bruno Lage's outfit recently returned a number of positive coronavirus tests, with those cases and several injuries meaning that the visitors cannot fulfil the fixture due to a lack of players.

A statement from the Premier League released on the Wolves website read: "Arsenal FC's match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium, due to be played at 12:30pm on Tuesday 28 December, has regrettably been postponed.

"The Premier League Board accepted the postponement application as Wolverhampton Wanderers does not have the required number of players available for the match (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper) as a result of a number of Covid-19 cases and injuries at the club.

"The Board was able to make its decision in advance of the fixture to give clarity to the affected clubs and their fans. We apologise for the inconvenience and disruption caused to supporters' festive plans."

The Arsenal vs. Wolves clash is the second midweek game to have already been postponed, with Leeds United's match against Aston Villa being called off earlier on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta's side would have had less than 48 hours to recover for the fixture after thrashing Norwich City 5-0 with a full-strength side on Boxing Day.
