Arsenal request that UEFA delay final decision on Arsene Wenger punishment

Arsenal request Wenger final verdict delay

Arsenal have requested that UEFA delay their final decision over Arsene Wenger's two-match ban.

The manager was handed the ban and a €10,000 fine yesterday as punishment for flouting a previous ban during last week's first-leg Champions League tie against Udinese.

Wenger was accused of "improper conduct" at the match after communicating with his team. The original ban dates back to his abuse of referee Massimo Busacca in last season’s defeat to Barcelona.

The club, who are appealing the decision, have moved to delay the verdict in order to allow Wenger to take his place on the bench during the second leg against Udinese tomorrow Wednesday).

UEFA's appeals body is expected to make a decision on the matter later today.
