Arsenal out to avoid unwanted 112-year-old record against Wolves

Arsenal will be desperate to avoid breaking an unwanted 112-year-old league record at home when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.

Mikel Arteta's side have been put to the sword by Leicester City and Aston Villa on their own turf recently - conceding four goals and scoring none.

The Gunners' problems in front of goal recently need to be addressed, Arteta has admitted, with Arsenal having not scored in open play in the Premier League since Nicolas Pepe's winner against Sheffield United in October.

Should Wolves take the spoils and keep a clean sheet on Sunday evening, Arsenal will have lost three home league matches in a row without scoring for the first time in 112 years, with the Gunners last enduring such a barren run between November and December 1908.

Furthermore, defeat would also mean that Arteta has overseen Arsenal's worst-ever start to a Premier League season; the Gunners boast 13 points from nine matches, with their lowest after 10 games being 14 in the 1992-93 and 1994-95 seasons.

Arsenal sit 14th in the Premier League table prior to the visit of Wolves, although the Gunners managed to overcome Molde with ease in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
