Arsenal looking to avoid equalling 61-year-old losing record

Arsenal will be desperate to avoid equalling an unwanted 61-year-old losing record when they welcome Burnley to the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

The Gunners are in a rut under Mikel Arteta and have suffered defeat in each of their last three Premier League games at home, with Leicester City, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers getting the better of the Gunners in North London in recent weeks.

Arteta's side are winless in the league since that 1-0 triumph against Manchester United at Old Trafford last month, and failure to take at least a point against Burnley would see the Gunners equal another unwanted record.

If Sean Dyche's men prevail in the capital, Arsenal would have lost four home games on the bounce in the top flight for the first time since 1959 - a run which saw Burnley win 4-2 at the home of the Gunners.

However, this weekend's hosts boast a brilliant record against the Clarets and have beaten Burnley in their last nine meetings with their opponents at home, with Burnley winless on Arsenal's turf since September 1974.

Arsenal have accrued 13 points from a possible 33 this season - their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign.
