Sergio Aguero's record vs. Arsenal

Sergio Aguero's record vs. Arsenal

The first major trophy of the season will be up for grabs at Wembley on Sunday when Manchester City take on Arsenal in the EFL Cup final.

City's quadruple dreams were shattered by League One Wigan Athletic of all teams last weekend, and the Gunners will be looking to take another trophy out of Pep Guardiola's grasp this weekend.

However, the runaway Premier League leaders are still on for a treble this season, and striker Sergio Aguero will likely be central to any hopes of keeping that alive at Wembley.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the prolific Argentine has fared against Arsenal in the past.

Aguero's record against Arsenal is mixed to say the least, with an even share of wins, draws and defeats from his 12 meetings against the Gunners during his time with Man City.

The Argentine has only met Arsenal once before in the League Cup, though, and he scored the only goal of the game at the Emirates Stadium on that occasion to fire City into the 2011-12 semi-finals.

Aguero also scored in the semi-final of the FA Cup between these two sides last season, although City went on to lose that match after extra time as Arsenal progressed through to the final.

Aguero has scored seven times against the Gunners in all, including in each of his last four appearances against Arsene Wenger's side, last failing to find the back of the net in this fixture in a 2-1 defeat in December 2015.

Indeed, the 29-year-old has either scored or assisted a goal in eight of his 12 previous meetings with Arsenal.
