Arsene Wenger: 'No timetable set for Mesut Ozil return'

Arsene Wenger claims that Arsenal will set their own timetable for Mesut Ozil's return from a knee injury after Germany predict that he will be out for three months.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that the club will make their own decision over how long Mesut Ozil will remain out of action with a knee injury.

The German Football Federation released a statement on Wednesday suggesting that the 25-year-old would be out for up to three months, but Wenger has suggested that his rehabilitation timetable will be looked at again by Arsenal's own medical staff.

"When he arrived with the German national team, they didn't think it was a lot at the start. He was supposed to practise on Wednesday but, in the end, he said that wasn't possible for him," the Gunners boss told the club's website.

"Then he had a scan and it was bad news. We have our own specialist giving us his opinion after reading the scan and examining Mesut. We will follow our own recommendations."

Arsenal were dealt a further blow on Thursday when Laurent Koscielny returned home from international duty with an Achilles problem.
