Report: Coquelin could face long spell out

Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin could be a lengthy absentee for the club after being substituted in the team's 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has hurt the ligaments in his knee and while the extent of the layoff is unknown, The Guardian understands that the Gunners are concerned by the initial signs, as the Frenchman left the Hawthorns on crutches.

Arsene Wenger is already contending with a number of injuries to key players such as Jack Wilshire, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck, while Mikel Arteta was also substituted in the defeat to West Brom due to a calf issue.

Coquelin has made 16 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal this season.
