Serge Gnabry hoping to "make an impression" at Arsenal

Arsenal striker Serge Gnabry reveals that he is planning to "make an impression" in pre-season after 14 months out of the first team with a knee injury.

Serge Gnabry has said that he will be aiming to "make an impression" in pre-season with Arsenal after an injury-hit season.

The striker has been battling a long-term knee injury since the team's exit at the hands of Bayern Munich in last season's Champions League, limiting him to action with the Under-21s this campaign.

The 20-year-old told the club's website: "I'm hoping to make an impact in pre-season to get the manager to see that I'm back on track again. I'm hoping that this pre-season goes well for me and that I can establish myself.

"Pre-season is there for everyone to show what they've got. It's the start of the season so everything is new. I'm hoping to make an impression. I guess I'll be going away with the first team but I've got the Under-21 European Championship with Germany first so I'll see what happens after that.

"I came here with the dream to play for Arsenal's first team and I did that before my injury. I'm hoping to get back to playing for the first team next season."

Gnabry made 14 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal during the 2013-14 season before injuring his knee in March last year.
