Arsenal's Willian named worst Premier League Signing of Season

Arsenal winger Willian has been voted as the worst Premier League signing of the season in the annual Sports Mole Reader Awards.

The Brazilian joined the Gunners on a free transfer from Chelsea last summer, penning a three-year deal at the Emirates after Chelsea had refused to offer him such a long contract.

However, Willian scored just once in 25 Premier League appearances throughout the 2020-21 campaign, dropping down the pecking order in Mikel Arteta's side as the season progressed.

The 32-year-old took 42.9% of the votes to be named the worst Premier League signing of 2020-21, just ahead of Donny van de Beek of Manchester United.

Sheffield United's Rhian Brewster was third with 19.6% of the votes following a goalless campaign for the Blades, while Matt Doherty of Tottenham Hotspur was fourth.

WORST PREMIER LEAGUE SIGNING OF THE SEASON RESULTS

1. Willian (Arsenal) - 42.9% 2. Donny van de Beek (Manchester United) - 30.7% 3. Rhian Brewster (Sheffield United) - 19.6% 4. Matt Doherty (Tottenham Hotspur) - 6.7%
