Arminia Bielefeld 2-4 Stuttgart: Highlights, man of the match, stats as Angelo Stiller leads club to DFB-Pokal final win

Stiller's Stuttgart salvation: Die Roten win DFB-Pokal despite Arminia courage

Stuttgart were crowned DFB-Pokal champions when they beat Arminia Bielefeld 4-2 on Saturday at Olympiastadion Berlin.

The deadlock was broken on the 15th-minute mark when Nick Woltemade used his strength to burst through towards goal, slotting home from insider the box to give the victors the lead.

Bielefeld were the architects of their own downfall minutes later when they lost possession from their own corner and were countered by Die Roten, who scored thanks to unselfish work from Deniz Undav to set up Enzo Millot.

Undav netted his side's third in before the half-hour mark after Angelo Stiller won possession in midfield, and his measured strike from inside the box ultimately sealed the victory before the interval.

Stuttgart would go on to net a fourth in the 66th minute through Millot, who won the ball back on the right side of Arminia's half and drove towards goal before placing a curled effort into the bottom-left corner, striking from inside the penalty area.

Julian Kania managed to pull one back for Arminia in the final stages of the match before Josha Vagnoman's own goal gave them a glimmer of hope, but it was too late to stage a comeback and prevent Stuttgart from lifting their fourth DFB-Pokal.

SPORTS MOLE'S VERDICT

The victory means that Stuttgart have won their first trophy since they won the Bundesliga title in the 2006-07 campaign, and the win means they have now qualified for the Europa League.

Boss Sebastian Hoeness managed to guide the club to a second-placed finish last term, and his triumph on Saturday has only raised his profile as one of Europe's most promising young coaches.

As for Bielefeld, losing against Stuttgart should by no means stain their successful campaign considering they have earned promotion to the 2. Bundesliga.

ARMINIA BIELEFELD VS. STUTTGART HIGHLIGHTS

15th min: Arminia Bielefeld 0-1 Stuttgart (Nick Woltemade)

Woltemade waits on the last line of defence for Stiller to poke the ball through near the halfway line, and the striker's shot bobbles into the right side of the net despite the best efforts of goalkeeper Jonas Thomas Kersken.

Great work from Stiller!

22nd min: Arminia Bielefeld 0-2 Stuttgart (Enzo Millot)

Bielefeld try to collect a loose ball from their own corner and conspire to lose possession, and Stuttgart counter at pace through Millot and Undav, the latter of whom is through on goal in the penalty area before sliding a pass across to Millot for a simple finish.

That could be massive!

28th min: Arminia Bielefeld 0-3 Stuttgart (Deniz Undav)

Arminia give the ball away after Maximilian Grosser tries to play out from the back, but midfielder Stiller wins possession and quickly fires a pass behind his opponents' backline to Undav, who shoots from the right side of the six-yard box and sees his effort roll into the bottom-left corner.

Game over!

66th min: Arminia Bielefeld 0-4 Stuttgart (Enzo Millot)

Millot intelligently intercepts the ball near the touchline on the right in Arminia's half, and he carries it into the penalty area before carefully placing a low effort into the bottom-left corner.

The cherry on the cake!

82nd min: Arminia Bielefeld 1-4 Stuttgart (Julian Kania)

Christopher Lannert finds himself advanced on the right flank and pulls a cross to the near post, where Julian Kania manages to meet the ball and sweep into the roof of the net.
