Alanyaspor vs Besiktas - prediction, team news, lineups

Alanyaspor host Besiktas at the GAIN Park Stadium on Sunday as both sides attempt to build momentum in the early weeks of the Super Lig season.

With the hosts still chasing a first win and the visitors entering a period of uncertainty after a European exit and a managerial change, the fixture promises intrigue at both ends of the table.

Match preview

Alanyaspor’s board moved on to Joao Pereira after parting ways with Sami Ugurlu in March 2025, and while the new coach is still bedding in his ideas, he has inherited a squad that finished 12th last term and find themselves in the same position again.

A 0-0 draw with Rizespor opened Alanyaspor’s campaign, showing defensive solidity but little threat going forward, before a matchday two defeat to Eyupspor highlighted recurring issues in both boxes.

Goals have been in short supply, with the side averaging just 0.5 per game, and the onus is on Andraz Sporar and Hwang Ui-jo to shoulder more of the offensive burden if Simsekler are to rise up the standings.

Thunders can also draw confidence from their recent resilience, carrying over form from the tail end of last season.

They have avoided defeat in six of their last seven league matches, with solidity at the back and the sharp reflexes of Ertugrul Taskiran often compensating for a modest attacking return.

Besiktas arrive with greater turbulence of their own. Their Europa League adventure ended prematurely against Shakhtar Donetsk, but they briefly steadied themselves with commanding wins over St Patrick’s Athletic in the Conference League before edging Eyupspor in their domestic opener.

That confidence soon ebbed away, however, as a draw in Switzerland with Lausanne was followed by a shock defeat in Istanbul in the return leg, dumping the Black Eagles out of Europe entirely.

On the same night, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was dismissed, leaving the club in a state of flux just as the domestic campaign gathers pace.

The timing of that change makes this trip delicate. Besiktas have shown resilience away from home, unbeaten in nine of their last ten Super Lig fixtures on the road, yet their recent history in Alanya underlines a more difficult pattern.

Three successive draws at this ground suggest they have found it tough to impose themselves here, and with only one win in seven visits overall, they will be wary of another frustrating evening.

Still, the form of Tammy Abraham, whose five goals in five outings include a hat-trick in Europe, provides a potent outlet to tilt tight contests in their favour.

With Besiktas distracted by off-field upheaval, the hosts may sense an opportunity to catch their visitors unsettled and to finally put a first victory of the new campaign on the board.

Team News

Besiktas recently terminated the contract of former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Cenk Tosun is not expected back until later in the autumn.

Tammy Abraham, though, remains the focal point in attack and will be supported by Rafa Silva and Joao Mario in behind, with Wilfred Ndidi and Orkun Kokcu tasked with providing the balance in midfield.

Alanyaspor must cope without Buluthan Bulut, whose knee injury keeps him sidelined until winter, limiting Pereira’s attacking options.

Taskiran is likely to continue in goal after impressing against Rizespor, while Sporar should again lead the line supported by Usluoglu and Hwang.

Alanyaspor possible starting lineup:

Taskiran; Aksoy, Aliti, Akdag; Hadergjonaj, Makouta, Janvier, Ozdemir; Usluoglu, Hwang; Sporar

Besiktas possible starting lineup:

Gunok; Svensson, Gabriel, Uduokhai, Jurasek; Ndidi, Kokcu; Rashica, Rafa Silva, Joao Mario; Abraham

We say: Alanyaspor 1-2 Besiktas

This fixture has often been a tricky one for Besiktas, who are winless in three successive visits to Alanya and arrive off the back of a damaging European exit and a managerial change.

Yet the individual quality within their squad, particularly the sharp form of Abraham, should give them the edge if they can keep their composure.

Alanyaspor, meanwhile, will make it awkward and will believe they can extend their visitors’ frustrations.
