Manchester City, Arsenal 'vying to sign Ajax youngster Frenkie De Jong'

Manchester City and Arsenal are reportedly going head to head for the signature of Ajax starlet Frenkie De Jong.

Both clubs have spoken to the Dutch giants about signing the youngster in January, according to The Sun.

De Jong, who is also said to have attracted interest from Chelsea, will reportedly be available for around £5m in the New Year as he has just 18 months left on his current contract.

The 20-year-old midfielder broke into the Ajax senior squad shortly after securing a move from boyhood club Willem II in 2015, and has earned caps for the Netherlands at Under-21 level.

The highly-rated youngster has made seven appearances for the Amsterdam outfit this season, including four starts.
