Scottish League Cup roundup: Wins for Dundee, Dunfermline and Queen of the South

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Saturday's games in the Scottish League Cup, where their were wins for Dundee and Dunfermline.

Dundee kicked off their 2014-15 campaign with a 4-0 win over League Two champions Peterhead in the Scottish League Cup, thanks to goals from Simon Ferry, Greg Stewart, Peter MacDonald and Luka Tankulic.

Dunfermline cruised into the next round with a blistering 5-1 win over Annan Athletic.

Meanwhile, Elgin made the long trip to Queen of the South, where a hat-trick from Iain Russell and a brace from Derek Lyle gave the home side a comfortable 5-0 win.

There was goals galore at Stark's Park too, where extra-time goals from Calum Elliot and Derek Young gave Raith Rovers the win over Forfar Athletic after their clash had finished 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Barry Ferguson's winning start as Clyde manager came to an end as Kyle Miller's last minute winner game Cowdenbeath a 2-1 win at Broadwood Stadium.

In the only League Cup tie between teams from the same division, Airdrieonians went down 3-1 at home to Scott Booth's Stenhousemuir side thanks to goals from Alan Lithgow, John Sludden and Colin McMenamin.

There were wins too for Alloa Athletic, Dumbarton, Ayr United, Hamilton Academical, Falkirk, Morton and Stranraer, while Livingston came through a penalty shootout to beat Albion Rovers after their tie had finished 0-0.

Results in full: Airdrieonians 1-3 Stenhousemuir, Albion Rovers 0-0 Livingston (Livingston win 3-4 on penalties), Alloa Athletic 1-0 Stirling Albion, Brechin City 0-1 Dumbarton, Clyde 1-2 Cowdenbeath, Dundee FC 4-0 Peterhead, Dunfermline Athletic 5-1 Annan Athletic, East Stirlingshire 0-4 Ayr United, Hamilton Academical 2-1 Arbroath, Montrose 1-3 Falkirk, Morton 2-1 Berwick Rangers, Queen of South 5-0 Elgin City, Raith Rovers 4-2 (AET) Forfar Athletic, Stranraer 1-0 East Fife.
