Seedorf retires to become AC Milan manager

Clarence Seedorf has confirmed that he has retired from playing to become the new AC Milan manager.

It was reported on Tuesday morning that the 37-year-old Dutchman was in line to take charge at the San Siro following the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri on Monday.

Seedorf, who spent 10 years as a player with Milan, has now confirmed that he is leaving Brazilian side Botafogo to coach the Italian giants.

"I've decided to stop after 22 years," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "I'll be the next coach of Milan."

Seedorf has enjoyed a glittering career across Europe over the past two decades, winning major titles in the Netherlands, Spain and Italy.
