Massimiliano Allegri: 'Mario Balotelli should have shut up'

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri admits that Mario Balotelli's behaviour must improve following his red card for dissent after the full-time whistle against Napoli.

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has insisted that Mario Balotelli's behaviour with officials must improve following his post-match sending-off against Napoli last night.

Balotelli got a second yellow card after the full-time whistle in a 2-1 defeat for continuing his protests with the referee, having a late penalty claim turned away.

It was an eventful night for the Milan forward, who missed a spot kick for the first time in his career before scoring a late consolation.

Allegri told Sky Sport Italia: "I didn't speak to Mario, but I'm told he received another booking. He received a fair few kicks.

"When games are over, it's better to stay quiet and I am against hysteria. It's best to just shut up and leave rather than stay there arguing with the referee, as it's not going to change anything. Balotelli needs to improve that.

"Tonight the team put in a decent performance in technical terms, though we were naive in the first 10 minutes and conceded that avoidable goal. It was in a way our best performance of the Serie A season so far."

Milan have now lost two of their first four games in Serie A this season, leaving themselves 11th in the table.
