Derek McInnes: 'Ryan Jack in the right place to improve'

Derek McInnes believes that Ryan Jack is at the right place to improve after committing his future to Aberdeen.

Derek McInnes has claimed that Ryan Jack is in the right place to deliver on his potential after signing a new Aberdeen deal earlier this week.

The 23-year-old had been linked with a move to Everton before agreeing terms on a two-year contract, and McInnes believes that Jack can continue to improve quickly under his guidance.

"You can get all the advice and guidance from whatever but ultimately he is a 23-year-old man, he's a father and he makes his own decisions. So I'm delighted he's made the one he has," the Aberdeen boss told reporters.

"I've no doubt Ryan is being talked about by other clubs and the more his contract ran down, the more attractive he became. Ryan is ambitious, we know that. But we are ambitious for him. We will help him be the player he can be.

"I've no doubt he will get his move in time but the challenge for him now is to keep improving."

Jack had previously been offered the deal in December before delaying his decision.
