Derek McInnes: 'It's only half time in the tie'

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes warns that a 3-0 win over HNK Rijeka may not be enough to see the Dons into the third round of Europa League qualifying.

Derek McInnes has warned his Aberdeen troops not to get carried away by their 3-0 Europa League win over HNK Rijeka in Croatia last night.

The Dons placed one foot in the third qualifying round, with Andrew Considine netting a first-half header before Peter Pawlett and Kenny McLean fattened the first-leg advantage.

However, McInnes is adamant that the Scottish Premiership outfit still have work to do ahead of Thursday's second leg.

"I was immensely satisfied and proud of the players' efforts," he told Sky Sports News. "Our players were excellent in terms of their application and what we asked of them but that is the only part of the game, tactics and organisation.

"The sheer endeavour and effort the players put in was very pleasing to see for me and very rewarding. But it is still only half-time in the tie. It doesn't mean to say we can't feel good about ourselves for tonight's work but they are too good a team to think the tie is over.

"There is work to do still. Yes, we will enjoy tonight, we will feel satisfied with our work but the preparation for next week's game starts now."

The third-round draw is scheduled to take place today.
