Moeen Ali: 'Negative attention will not have an impact'

Moeen happy to ignore negative attention

Moeen Ali has insisted that the negative reception he received from some supporters in the summer will not have an impact on his performances for England.

The Worcestershire all-rounder, whose family is of Pakistani heritage, was the target of criticism from some Indian supporters earlier this year, but he is determined to ignore his critics.

"No matter what you do, no matter how good you try to be, you are always going to get a certain amount of haters, so I just accept that and carry on. It doesn't really bother me at all," the 27-year-old is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"I have had a lot of Indian friends who have apologised on behalf of other people for the boos, and it's nice, it's really nice to hear that. That sort of thing inspires me to keep going and not lose heart.

"I did hear guys with Brummie accents telling me to play for my own country, so it was a tough one. They were more Brummie than I was."

Moeen has made 19 appearances for England across all formats in 2014.
