Geoffrey Boycott baffled by Alex Hales's England exclusion

Boycott baffled by Hales exclusion

Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott has expressed his confusion over why Alex Hales is yet to be picked in the World Cup campaign.

The 26-year-old was tipped to replace Gary Ballance in the side following England's humiliating eight-wicket defeat to New Zealand last Friday.

However, no changes were made for today's clash against Scotland, which England were able to win by 119 runs and scoop their first Pool A triumph.

"If I was Alex Hales I would be asking for my ticket to go home because I'd be wondering how I am not playing here," Boycott told BBC Test Match Special. "He is a much better player than Gary Ballance."

England will take on Sri Lanka in Wellington on Sunday.
