Former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds dies at the age of 46 after being involved in a car accident.

Former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds has died after being involved in a car accident in Queensland.

Police say that the 46-year-old was involved in a single vehicle incident on Saturday night, his car said to have left the road and rolled, according to a statement.

Australian cricket will now mourn the loss of a third player in as many months after Rod Marsh and Shane Warne passed away in March.

Symonds was best known for his performances in the one-day arena with 5,088 runs and 133 wickets being recorded during 198 one-day internationals.

As well as also being involved in 26 Test matches, Symonds was a familiar face in English county cricket, having spells at Gloucestershire, Kent, Lancashire and Surrey before retiring in 2011.

After ending his playing days, Symonds spent time in the media, most notably with Fox Sports.
