Australia reportedly axe four players from their squad for the third Test against India for failing to give examples of how the team can improve.

Australia have reportedly axed four players from their squad for the third Test against India for breaching team protocol.

Shane Watson, Mitchell Johnson, Usman Khawaja and James Pattinson are believed to have been dropped from the team for the third Test of the series, which sits at 2-0 to India.

It is understood that the quartet failed to submit a presentation on how the squad could improve their game following their consecutive defeats, and were unable to give a valid reason as to why they hadn't completed the task, according to Yahoo! Sport.

The Test will get underway in Mohali on Thursday.
