Vincenzo Mangiacapre battles past Daniyar Yeleussinov

Italy's Vincenzo Mangiacapre has guaranteed himself an Olympic medal courtesy of a hard-fought win over Kazakhstan's Daniyar Yeleussinov.

The Italian got the btter of a close opening round, but Yeleussinov responded well in the second.

Despite landing with some decent shots, the Kazakh found himself trailing 9-7 as they entered the final three minutes.

Yeleussinov ran out of gas in the last round as he tried to press forward and exert pressure on Mangiacapre.

The Italian finished the stronger of the two and took a 16-12 decision to seal his place in the last four.
