Gregg Popovich against extension of NBA season

Popovich against extension of NBA season

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has admitted that he is against the idea of extending the NBA season into July.

Plans have been mooted to extend the 82-game campaign to alleviate the pressure on the players during the regular season, where they can play up to 20 matches on back-to-back nights.

However, Popovich has insisted that he is not a supporter of the proposed plan as he feels that the season is long enough.

"If there is a game in July, count me out," Popovich told reporters. "Count me out. Count me out. Life is too short.

"I think the season is long enough. I will not come to work in July."

Popovich guided the Spurs to their fifth NBA championship in the 2013-14 season.
