Kawhi Leonard: 'Teammates inspired me to MVP award'

San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard hails his teammates and head coach Gregg Popovich for inspiring him to win the MVP award of the NBA finals.

San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard has hailed his teammates for inspiring him to win the MVP award of the NBA finals as his side clinched their fifth Championship.

Gregg Popovich's side defeated the Miami Heat 104-87 in game five of finals to take the series 4-1, and earn their first title since 2007.

"Right now, it's just surreal to me," Leonard told ESPN. "I have a great group of guys behind me.

"They said I had the talent and I could go out there every night. They just told me to keep being aggressive every night for us to win this series.

"They all pushed me, coach Pop pushed me and the fans pushed me."

Leonard became the third-youngest recipient of the award behind Magic Johnson and teammate Tim Duncan.
