Harkless injures ankle in practice

Portland Trail Blazers forward Maurice Harkless has suffered an ankle injury while playing for the Puerto Rican national team.

The 22-year-old joined the Trail Blazers last month ahead of the new campaign, and has been spending the summer playing for Puerto Rico.

However, Harkless has gone over on his ankle, and flew straight to Portland to have it assessed.

Harkless was set to play in an Olympic qualifier against Mexico, and Puerto Rico's associate director Joel Katz hopes that he can still compete.

He told PrimeraHora: "It's not that his participation is in doubt, but we need clearance from the Trail Blazers. Once they evaluate him, it will be determined whether he can participate in the qualifier."

Harkless previously played for Orlando Magic.
