LaMarcus Aldridge ruled out for up to eight weeks

Portland Trail Blazers power forward LaMarcus Aldridge suffers a torn ligament in his thumb and will be sidelined for between six and eight weeks.

Portland Trail Blazers star LaMarcus Aldridge has been ruled out of action for between six and eight weeks after sustaining a torn ligament in his thumb.

Aldridge hurt his thumb when his hand came down on the knee of Sacramento Kings star DeMarcus Cousins on Monday night.

"I've definitely sprained my thumb a few times, but this was on a different level," Aldridge told reporters.

"I couldn't even move it."

Aldridge, who leads Portland with averages of 23.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this season, conceded that he expects to have surgery within the week.
