Rivers: 'Anthony, Griffin trade rumours are stupid'

Doc Rivers has said that rumours of a trade which would see Carmelo Anthony join the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Blake Griffin are "stupid".

The New York Knicks forward is due to become a free agent at the end of the season, leading to trade speculation.

The Clippers head coach told reporters: "Please, this is stupid. If you're the Knicks or whoever, would you want Blake Griffin? I would, so I don't see what the story is.

"Call [San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich] and and ask if he would like Blake. I think he'd say, 'Yeah, I think so, yeah I think so'. We had nothing to do with it."

Griffin has averaged 22 points per game this season, while Anthony has 26.2.
