Report: Andrew Wiggins likely to be named as Rookie of the Year

Report: Wiggins set for rookie award

Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Andrew Wiggins is expected to be named NBA Rookie of the Year, according to reports.

The 20-year-old was the number one pick in the 2014 NBA Draft and went to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he was traded to the Timberwolves in August.

The Timberwolves have suffered from injury problems, but Wiggins has maintained his high standard throughout the season and The AP suggests that he will be rewarded for his impressive campaign.

His teammate Zach La Vine told reporters: "I don't want to hear anybody saying there is anyone close to him. He had the best rookie year by far."

Wiggins averaged 16.9 points a game across 82 matches.
