Dirk Nowitzki: 'Wesley Matthews, Chandler Parsons won't rush injury recoveries'

Nowitzki: 'Matthews, Parsons won't rush back'

Dirk Nowitzki has said that Wesley Matthews and Chandler Parsons will be given time by the Dallas Mavericks to recover from injuries.

Matthews is currently recovering from surgery on his Achilles, while Parsons underwent knee surgery in May.

"Obviously, Parsons and Wes are both guys that want to be here for a lot of long years," Nowitzki told reporters.

"So it would be wrong to push them now in October and not have them later on in the season.

"So you want to take it slow, progress from week to week and whenever they're ready, they're ready."

The Mavericks open the season against the Phoenix Suns on October 28.
