Derrick Rose: 'Too bad we can't play Spain this summer'

US point guard Derrick Rose reveals his disappointment at the fact that his side won't get to face tournament hosts Spain at the World Cup of Basketball this summer.

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has said that it is "too bad" his US side isn't going to get the chance to face Spain in the final of the World Cup of Basketball.

Pundits and fans alike have long been waiting for the US to square up against an impressive Spanish side on European soil, but they won't get the chance now after the hosts were eliminated by France at the quarter-final round of the tournament.

"I think that's one of the reasons why we came over here, was to play them," said Rose, according to The AP.

"Too bad we're not playing them and hopefully we go out there in our next game and play hard and just know that we're there for a reason."

The US are now waiting to find out whether they will face France or Serbia in the final of the showpiece event.
