Rose undergoes successful surgery

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose underwent successful knee surgery and is expected to return within four to six weeks, according to general manager Gar Forman.

Forman spoke to the media on Friday and revealed that the surgery was a success, and that the 26-year-old was able to walk out of hospital with weight on his leg.

The Bulls point guard has had the damaged part of his meniscus removed, and the organisation is confident that he will be able to return before the end of the regular season.

Rose is scheduled to start rehabilitation on Saturday, with Forman adding that the former MVP is confident and optimistic about returning this season.

Meanwhile, coach Tom Thibodeau added that it was "great news" and confirmed that Rose will start rehab immediately in a bid to return and feature in the coming months.
