Charlotte Bobcats to return to old colours

Hornets to go purple and teal

Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan has confirmed that the team will return to using purple and teal next season.

The franchise will also be changing its name back to the Hornets, with the colours the same as those worn from 1988 to 2002 before it moved to New Orleans.

"It was important to us to acknowledge the heritage of the Charlotte Hornets when bringing the name back to the market," Jordan said, as reported by ESPN.

"The purple and teal colour scheme was instantly recognizable as being associated with the original Hornets."

The Hornets name became available when New Orleans became the Pelicans ahead of this season.
