The silver medalist has been speaking to Sports Mole, and believes that England's relay team can challenge Usain Bolt and co at the Commonwealth Games. Catch what Gemili had to say to our man Barney Corkhill here.

As promised, here is that Gemili story in full. The 20-year-old could not hide his delight after finishing second at Hampden Park.

Gemili told BBC Sport: "This is my first senior medal, I'm speechless, there's so much preparation that goes into running 10 seconds. It's not as easy as people think and I've got a great team behind me and they know who they are. I can't believe it, I'm so happy." We'll have the full reaction to come.

The young Englishman finished second to Jamaica's Kemar Bailey-Cole and looked truly delighted to have finished runner-up to the rangy winner.

While we take a little breather, check out what Welsh gymnast Clinton Purnell had to say when he sat down with SM's Pascal Lemesre earlier today.

MEDAL UPDATE! It's a clean sweep for Australia in the men's 200m backstroke. Women's 800m freestyle and men's 200m individual medley to follow.

Attention now turns to the Tollcross Swimming Centre, where we have three races in the next 30 minutes. As ever, we'll bring you the results as and when they happen.

Earlier today 15-year-old Rebekah Tiler narrowly missed out on a medal in the weightlifting. Far from being disappointed, she's now turned her attention to the Olympic Games in two years time.

Medals galore for England in the men's squash

Now for some reaction from beaten finalist James Willstrop, who says that he is still "thrilled" by his performance in Glasgow despite the defeat. Rightly so!

Some reaction from that gold medal shootout between Nick Matthew and James Willstrop now. We'll begin with winner Matthew, who says that retaining his men's singles medal at the Games is the "best moment of my life".

GOLD MEDAL UPDATE! England were guaranteed a gold medal in the men's squash final this evening with compatriots Nick Matthew and James Willstrop coming up against each other. It was a tightly-fought affair that went the distance - find out who prevailed by clicking here.

Dan Greaves has posted a selfie of himself and his gold medal. He topped the leaderboard in this morning's F42/44 discus, and straight after the event at Hampden Park he spoke to SM's own Barney Corkhill. The interview in full can be found here.

MEDAL RESULT! Fifteen-year-old Rebekah Tiler has narrowly missed out on a weightlifting medal after recording a combined lift of 209kg at the Clyde Auditorium. Read a full report on the action from the -69kg event right here.

England's Laura Massaro missed out on a gold medal earlier tonight with a straight-sets defeat against Nicol David. Speaking after the match, the 30-year-old admitted that she simply 'wasn't good enough' to win the contest.

Thanks Joe! There's been plenty to get through this afternoon, and the action will continue right through until late tonight. We'll start with some reaction to this morning's F42/44 discus final. Team Wales captain Aled Sion Davies won silver in the event, but he's admitted that he feels "devastated" having failed to win gold.

Before I hand you over to Daniel Lewis for coverage into the evening, here is the report on England duo Andrew Knapper and Sam Tolchard winning bronze in the men's lawn bowls pairs. Over to Dan...

England's women won their first two matches at the Commonwealth Games but found themselves outclassed by Australia this afternoon, with the Hockeyroos recording a 3-0 victory which continues their 100% record at the 2014 competition and almost certainly secures them top spot in Group B.

MEDALS! England take their bronze medal tally to 20 in Glasgow as their men's lawn bowls pairing of Andrew Knapper and Sam Tolchard see off Namibia in an even third-place playoff. Kenneth Parr's bronze in the men's 50m rifle prone final is more success for the English team.

RECORD BREAKING SCOTS! The host nation have double reason to celebrate following Alex Marshall and Paul Foster's victory in the men's lawn bowls pair's final. They emphatically beat Malaysia to win Scotland's 12th gold of the Games, which is one more than their previous best Commonwealth Games tally of 11, achieved at Melbourne 2006.

A major Games is always a place for proud parents - remember Bert le Clos in London? Nobody's parents have more right to be proud than those of 13-year-old swimmer Erraid Davies, who won bronze for Scotland in the para-sport women's 100m breaststroke on Sunday. Here are his emotional thoughts.

Let's get some reaction from one of England's trio of women's 1500m finalists. Hannah England, Jemma Simpson and Laura Weightman all qualified for Wednesday's final earlier this afternoon and the latter is just relieved to be able to focus on the final after surviving a "messy" heat.

MEDAL! England have the first of what could be three squash medals today! Peter Barker has won bronze by defeating India's Saurav Ghosal in their third-place playoff. Flag bearer Nick Matthew, James Willstrop and Laura Massaro all go for gold later this afternoon.

We have been focusing mainly on the athletics so far on the fifth day of the Games, but there is some other great action happening across Glasgow. Sports Mole are live for the gymnastics!

England's athletes are largely making qualifying look easy this afternoon in Glasgow, with high jumpers Chris Baker, Martyn Bernard and Tom Parsons having just qualified for the men's final. Thirteen athletes will fight it out for the medals, including Olympic bronze medalist Derek Drouin of Canada.

More good news from the track for Team England, as all three of our runners progressed to the final of the women's 1500m. Kenya set the pace but Hannah England, Laura Weightman and Jemma Simpson all qualified, as did Laura Muir of Scotland at her home Hampden Park track.

Here is a roundup of those 400m heats. Rooney qualified third fastest from the seven heats and will be joined in tomorrow's semi-finals by teammates Bingham and Nigel Levine.

More on those 400m heats shortly, but firstly a line from Sir Chris Hoy, who is already excited about the potential legacy left for Scottish cycling as a result of them hosting the Commonwealth Games.

Thanks Callum. The 400m heats are now done and dusted and as well as James being impressive, England's Martyn Rooney and Michael Bingham looked comfortable in qualifying for the semi-finals.

That's all from me today, but I'll now pass you to Joe Fish, who will take you through all of the action from the Commonwealth Games for the next few hours. Over to you, Joe.

The 400m heats are underway at Hampden Park, and Kirani James has just sent out a reminder of his class with a comfortable victory in the third race. He'll be in the semi-finals tomorrow, and few will bet against him adding a Commonwealth gold medal to his Olympic title.

GOLD! A fantastic F42/44 discus has just finished, and it's England's Dan Greaves who has clinched the gold medal ahead of Welsh rival Aled Davies. The difference between the two was just 11 points in the mixed classification event.

Northern Ireland's lawn bowls squad have failed to secure a first gold of the Commonwealth Games after the men's triples squad slipped to a 19-10 loss to South Africa, who clinched the gold with an impressive performance in the final at Kelvingrove. Wales claimed the bronze medal with a 16-14 triumph over Australia.

You can read more about Gault's retirement from shooting in Sian Cowper's report of the breaking news now.

Damien Warner has, quite literally, made a fast start in the men's decathlon. The Canadian leads his rivals after one event thanks to a brilliant display over 100m this morning. A time of 10.29 seconds saw him storm away from his rivals, with England's John Lane a distant second in the heat.

Australia have continued their impressive start to the pool stage of the men's hockey tournament by thrashing South Africa 6-0 this morning. They're looking like the ones to beat at the Commonwealth Games.

The dream of setting a new record for most Commonwealth medals is over for Mick Gault, who has failed to book a spot in the 50m air pistol final. Gault could only manage a 13th place finish in qualifying, which means his career will end with just the 18 medals hanging up at home. The 60-year-old has promised his wife he will not compete again.

Geraint Thomas, who finished 22nd as the Tour de France came to an end in Paris yesterday, has revealed that it will be extra special to pull on the Welsh jersey once again this week as he turns his attention to the Commonwealth Games.

Max Whitlock, who starred as an individual and as a member of the British team at the last Olympics, believes that an unusually hectic schedule at the Commonwealth Games will be a big challenge for all gymnasts.

Nicola Adams, one of the heroes from London two years ago, begins her bid for Commonwealth glory today, and she has insisted that there are no plans to turn professional in the near future as she looks to add another gold medal to her collection.

Erraid Davies made history on Sunday as the 13-year-old Scot claimed bronze in the SB9 100m breaststroke final in what is sure to be remembered as one of the great moments of the Commonwealth Games, and the Scot has admitted that she was not sure what to expect before the race.

There was plenty of praise for Adam Gemili after he reached the semi-finals of the 100m with the fastest time in the heats yesterday, but that performance was not enough to impress American athletics legend Michael Johnson, who believes that the English sprinter can do more.

Good morning everyone, and welcome to our coverage on day five of the Commonwealth Games. There will be plenty of news to bring you throughout the day, with medals being competed for already this morning. Fingers crossed for another thrilling day in Glasgow.
